Center for Biological-Medical Research of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf
The BMFZ (Center for Biological-Medical Research) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is an interdisciplinary platform operated by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. It serves as a place where more than 40 research groups from these two faculties collaborate. Research at the BMFZ is divided into three main focus areas to promote interdisciplinary cooperation.
The platform offers state-of-the-art technologies and central service facilities, including:
- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS): Technologies for genome- and transcriptome-wide sequencing, providing high-resolution insights into genetic and epigenetic processes.
- High-End Mass Spectrometry: For detailed proteome analyses to study the structure, function, and interactions of proteins.
The BMFZ's central technology platforms are available to participating research groups, fostering synergy between biomedical and natural sciences. In this way, the BMFZ not only enables excellent fundamental research but also the development of innovative biomedical applications.
