RFA 1: Basic molecular and cellular principles
Speaker: Prof. Stork und Prof. Schmitt
Deputy: Prof. Haendeler
Research area 1 deals with fundamental processes of biology. These include among others metabolic processes, protein networks and homeostasis, regulation, and transport. Despite its diversity, the molecular and cellular principles governing these essential steps are in the focus of research area 1. Next to the processes, the methodological approaches and their development are an important aspect. The approaches range from classis expression and purification of (membrane) proteins, cellular studies to super-resolution microscopy. Only such a broad arsenal of methods will allow the groups of research area 1 to obtain the necessary precision and details to understand the fundamental processes under investigation.
